The North American Sommelier Association (NASA) is proud to present the "Italian Wine Specialist" certification program recognized throughout the world. This course is designed from the "Associazione Italiana Sommelier" (AIS, or Italian Sommelier Association) curricula, recognized as the leading educational and consulting authority on Italian wines. The teachers are all native Italians and professionally Certified Sommeliers by the WSA (Worldwide Sommelier Association). The AIS was founded in 1965 and is the foremost authority in wine education and sommelier services. Globally, it is part of the WSA, the largest Sommelier Association in the world, known for its extremely high curriculum standards. The NASA, headquartered in Los Angeles, is affiliated with the WSA and has the right and exclusivity of using the AIS curricula to teach this course in the territory of North America.

This course consists of 24 hours of class time, including tasting, plus an exam in order to earn the certification, issued by the NASA and approved by the AIS and WSA. The class will explore all 20 wine regions of Italy, their wine laws, grape varietals and include a brief overview of cuisine and culture. A portion of the class will be dedicated to wine tasting technique and to the sophisticated wine service for which the AIS is famous.

The course includes the following materials that will be distributed on the first day of class:
– "Wine Tasting" (published by Associazione Italiana Sommelier, Italy)
– "An overview of Italian wine" coursebook (published by NASA)
– Wine Colors Chart

Course participants will also receive promotional NASA membership for the current year. This course will be extremely beneficial to both wine industry professionals and enthusiasts who are interested in the vast world of Italian wine and requires no previous wine knowledge.
